A SHIP ON A JOURNEY
by justme
Stillness, silence,
peace prevails,
Quiet solitude.
A ship on a journey.
Heading somewhere, it sails.
Through seas of thunder and of rage.
To gentle lapping,
upon an endless stage.
Bright white sail says ‘look at me’
Rolled up aramid says
I don’t want to see!’
A rudder moved by a thousand hands
By smells and visions
No vessel understands
Turn left? Turn right?
Who really knows the way?
If I stop I sink
tomorrow’s day.
To push north against the south
Needs strength, and brow
To head east or west
Its all a guess right now.
Oh for a sailor who would lend their hand?
Sadly the sailors are busy,
being grand.
So the stars and the moon,
directing me on.
The wind pushes me forward.
My deck has the sun.
The dolphin of life,
guard each of my sides.
I stopped with deciding
And it suddenly glides
Oh to surrender and accept I don’t know
To go with the wind
And the sails as they blow
To take each minute as if for the first
To eat when I am hungry and drink when I thirst
That’s what it is to live in the now
To shatter my needs and to life take a bow.
Where to? I don’t know
And least do I care
For a fatherly hand is taking me there.
The lesson for all vessels on the path
Is not to go against
The waves and the wrath
But gently lead on and life will take you
To your destination,
To that place,
you already
knew ! ∞
